French and Francophone Studies

This is a guide to research in the language, literatures, and cultures of the French-speaking world.

Search Vassar's Catalog

Search for books, journal titles, DVDs and other material in the Vassar Online Catalog

Search Tips for the Online Catalog

If you don't know what subject heading to use, try a keyword search first and follow subject headings for relevant books to find others on the same topic.

Finding Books in Other Libraries

Use ConnectNY, and WorldCat to find books in other libraries.

These databases allow keyword searching as well as searching by author, title, and subject, just as you can do in Vassar's online catalog.  They use the same set of subject headings we use in our online catalog.  You may limit your searches by language, time period, etc.

If you search WorldCat and find books you want that are available through ConnectNY, you must search the ConnectNY catalog and order the books from ConnectNY.  To get books you find in WorldCat that are not at Vassar or in ConnectNY, use ILLiad.
